About BMAT
Writing Seminar
The Uniprep BMAT preparation seminar focuses on the BMAT writing task so that you can practise and receive much-needed individual feedback on your writing.
Medicine applicants with a predominant background in sciences tend to be less confident in writing extended essay-type answers; while medical schools are seeking applicants with strong all-round communication skills, including in writing. Our one-off intensive seminar is designed to improve your performance in this crucial area, which is tested in the writing task in the third part of the BMAT test (30 minutes).
Course Outline
The Uniprep BMAT writing seminar covers:
The BMAT scoring system and what examiners look for in the writing task
The qualities of good academic writing in the sciences
Essay structure and planning
The language of reasoning and signposting your argument
Practice tests of two BMAT writing tasks written under exam conditions
Detailed individual feedback and commentary on your writing
Sources of information and suggestions for further preparation & practice
Why choose Uniprep?
Students taking the Uniprep BMAT preparation course have scored above well above average in the writing task (with scores ranging from 9-12, as opposed to the average of around 7), and many have found that this boosted their BMAT score sufficiently to secure interviews and offers of places.
Uniprep acknowledges that there is good range of multiple choice information available on the test website and from published books, and we encourage students to make use of these resources. Our BMAT seminar is shorter and cheaper than other preparation courses as tuition time is not wasted practising multiple choice questions which students could just as easily work through on their own.
Writing practice also helps candidates improve their performance in critical thinking and the reading passages in other sections of the BMAT test, as we pay particular attention to the language of reasoning and critical thinking.
Course Dates and Fees
The Uniprep BMAT writing preparation seminar is a one-off session providing three hours of intensive tuition and practice. Seminars are held on Saturdays and over the winter half-term at Westminster Tutors in central London.
