TSA Preparation
Why choose Uniprep?
HAT and ELAT Seminars
Our intensive 3.5 hour seminars provide you with an understanding of the skills that are being assessed in either HAT or ELAT. Both tests are seeking to identify a flair for independent thinking and critical analysis which will be further developed when reading History or English at Oxford.
Our carefully selected and experienced tutors will help you make the leap to university level commentary and analysis. Class sizes are restricted to six students to ensure you receive individual attention and feedback from your tutor.
The Uniprep HAT and ELAT seminars cover:
Test Structure
Critical skills (literary or historical) which are being sought
Writing style and how to structure your answer
Test practice activities
Detailed individual feedback and suggestions for improvement
HAT Seminar:
James Warner graduated in Modern History from Oxford University in 2008. He was in the first cohort to sit the HAT paper in 2004 and is therefore ideally placed to guide students through the challenges of the test. At Oxford James studied a broad range of subjects from Charlemagne to Edwardian Britain, and he has tutored a very diverse range of subjects at A level. James has considerable experience helping students with Oxbridge applications for History, and has been offering HAT preparation for Uniprep for the past two years.
The HAT test will be taken on Wednesday, 2 November 2011.
See www.history.ox.ac.uk/prosundergrad/applying/hat_introduction.htm for info.
ELAT Seminar:
Dr James Miller gained a first class degree in English from Oxford University, and distinction in his MA from UCL. He completed his PhD at King's College London and also lectured there. Dr Miller has published two novels and is now a senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Kingston University. Dr Miller will focus on the university-level skills of writing a comparative piece of literary analysis where students themselves are expected to identify the specific topic they will write on, as tested in ELAT.
The ELAT test will be held on Wednesday, 2 November 2011.

Why choose Uniprep?
The university application process is changing at a rapid pace and, for the top universities and degree courses, admissions tests which assess critical thinking are proliferating.
Uniprep was established following the introduction of the BMAT test for Medicine, and each year we have increased the number of tests that we help students prepare for.
Uniprep founder Virginia Maguire is also Principal of Westminster Tutors, established in 1934. Uniprep courses are held at Westminster Tutors in South Kensington, and we are able to offer a host of superbly qualified tutors to devise courses or individual sessions according to requirements.
Westminster Tutors is also an open test centre for BMAT, ELAT, TSA Oxford, and HAT, which means applicants can sit the tests at the college if required.
